Meet our Sekoly Kintana team.

We are a Montessori primary school in Madagascar, dedicated to fostering a love for learning through innovative and inclusive education. Our talented team is passionate about literacy, emotional intelligence, science, art, movement and creating opportunities for Malagasy children. We believe that education is about much more than sitting at desks and listening; the world is a classroom, and learning can and should be done through diverse modalities, experiences, art, science, movement, and more. Our teachers act as guides and coaches, nurturing and developing each child’s natural genius within a healing-centered curriculum that centers Madagascar. We aim to create an enriching learning environment where each child can reach their full potential in a harmonious and balanced way.

The community language is Malagasy with English.

Alison is a dedicated coach, mentor, and educator, recognized for her natural talent in creating an environment of trust and safety. She supports individuals, young and old, to reach their full potential and experience joy and personal effectiveness in their achievements and successes. Alison aims to create an enriching learning environment where each child can reach their full potential in a harmonious and inclusive context. She deeply values and is committed to socio-emotional learning, additive education, and the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to promote holistic skill development in children.

In addition, Alison is a student of educational theory and pedagogy, working to collect the best team to assure the provision of early literacy materials in Malagasy, while also effectively teaching English. She is dedicated to centering history, science, and art curriculums on Madagascar and Africa, ensuring that educational content is culturally relevant and empowering.

    Teacher 6 to 9

    Nathalie is passionate about literacy, science and culture, knowledge of earth, and geography, and opportunities for Malagasy children. A life-long learner herself, she is enrolled in a Montessori Early Childhood program. Nathalie brings with her experience in teaching, and personalized student support and guidance.  She joins our team with the enthusiasm to take on new challenges and transform the educational experience in Madagascar.

    Nathalie values creating opportunities for innovative and inclusive education. She focuses on fostering an environment that nurtures independence and growth for every child. Drawing from her experience in socio-emotional learning and early literacy, she is committed to offering children the chance to develop their skills fully and confidently. Her approach ensures that each child is given the opportunity to thrive in a balanced and supportive setting.

    Nathalie is fluent in English, French, and is able to speak all the dialects of the south (Antanosy, Androy, Vezo) in addition to Standard Malagasy.

      Nosoavina

      Teacher 3 to 6

      Nosoavina is a passionate and experienced educator with a passion for learning and innovation in learning theory. Known for her sense of responsibility and attentive listening, she joins our team with the enthusiasm to take on new challenges and make a significant contribution to the education of our youngest students. Nosoavina brings with her experience in managing educational projects, supporting orphaned and vulnerable children, and facilitating educational and recreational activities. She is passionate about dancing and celebrating Malagasy culture with an understanding and value for creating global citizens. 

      Nosoavina is currently studying the Montessori method and will complete her Montessori Assistant certification for children aged 3 to 6 years in September 2024. She aims to create an enriching learning environment where each child can reach their full potential with joy and a love for learning. Her understanding of socio-emotional learning and early literacy ensures holistic development.

        Megan

        Montessori Supervisor & Early Literacy Coach

        Megan is a dedicated educator with over twenty-five years of experience in Montessori education. She will be supervising and coaching our teachers and working on our early literacy curriculum in Malagasy and English. Megan aims to create an enriching learning environment where each child can reach their full potential with joy and a love for learning. Her understanding of socio-emotional learning and early literacy ensures holistic development.

         As a supervising teacher, she leverarges keen observation skills and the ability to coach teachers to better identify and meet their students’ needs. She became well-versed in, and helped to codify, the Sound Shapes Reading Curriculum developed by her mentor, Nancy Schwab. Committed to promoting holistic human development and social-emotional learning, Megan firmly believes in an “Erdkinder” approach for all ages, incorporating nature and outdoor experiences whenever possible.
